Dogs receiving cow placenta extract had lower cognitive-behaviour questionnaire scores than the placebo group after six months.
Cow placenta, not equine placenta. A different preparation from the ingredient in our collection.
What the researchers observed
The authors reported improved cognitive-behaviour scores and changes in selected oxidative-stress markers compared with placebo.
How this connects to your routine
This study broadens the reading on cognitive ageing. Its different placenta source means it is contextual research, not direct support for our equine placenta products.
Understanding the study
- Study design: Six-month randomised, placebo-controlled trial
- Participants or model: 94 dogs enrolled; 88 completed follow-up (45 extract, 43 placebo)
- Preparation: An enzymatically processed cow placenta extract given in oral capsules.
What this study cannot tell us
Results concern the cow-derived preparation tested. They cannot establish the effects of JBP equine placental extract, retail products, or supplementation in cats. Questionnaire outcomes, sample size and follow-up duration limit interpretation.
